As the former president of Dramatists Play Service (DPS), a play publishing and licensing company, I was delighted to see the article on playwrights in the September/October issue (“Will smart phones kill live theater?”). Nine of the playwrights featured are published and licensed by DPS; during the 20 years that I ran the company, we published and licensed more than 35 playwrights from Brown. Much of the credit for these outstanding authors goes to Paula Vogel (a DPS writer too) who was head of the theatre department for many years. I hope that Brown will continue to turn out talented playwrights.
