Send feedbackThe article on Bessie Rudd says Miss Rudd was opposed to “Pembroke’s merger with Brown.” The article perpetuates a common error about “the merger.” Pembroke College did not merge with Brown. As its full name, Pembroke College in Brown University, suggests, Pembroke was already a part of Brown. It was one of two undergraduate colleges in Brown University; the other was the [men’s] College. These two colleges, the College and Pembroke College, were combined into Brown’s undergraduate college.
