I have been proud of my association with Brown’s values and its unrelenting efforts to promote intellectual integrity, courage, and honesty.

From my very first year at Brown’s campus in 1968, I was impressed by its exceptionally liberal approach to higher education as well as the student body’s open opposition to the callous tragedy and suffering of the brutal Vietnam war. Ever since then, I have been and am proud of my association with Brown’s values and its unrelenting efforts to promote intellectual integrity, courage, and honesty among all those associated with it. The survival issues confronting humanity are far too complex and too grave to be left in the hands of self-serving political, ethnic, or religious demagogues who are unable to look beyond their own narrow self-interest and biases. Thank you for sharing this important contribution to peace in the Holy Land!

I commend you on the insightful article on the work and friendship between Palestinian Sa’ed Atshan and Israeli Katharina Galor, two educators who met at Brown. Our world leaders could learn a lot from our professors.
