Thank you for featuring David Egilman ’74, ’78 MD. The class I took with him in 1997 had the generic title of Occupational/Environmental Health. It was really about epistemology and the ways we should critically examine hypotheses and results from testing those hypotheses. Getting to discuss Karl Popper, Michel Foucault, and Thomas Kuhn for the class was a worthwhile and memorable challenge. I am equally grateful for his intellectual contributions to my Brown education and for the inspiration he gave by sharing with his students the whys and hows of his work to advance justice.
