This story moved me deeply, and I am about to watch the film A World of Hurt online after I post this message. I am an intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma survivor who experienced a challenging accident early on in my medical care. People told me to sue, but that did not seem to be the best route for me or the doctor. To his credit, he called me to discuss what happened. After reading this article, I’m glad I chose not to sue the hospital or doctor.

Had I been sued earlier in my career, I would not have had the strength or resilience to carry on in medicine.

Kudos to Drs. Brady, Homer, and Kasthuri on making their documentary A World of Hurt: How Medical Malpractice Fails Everyone. I watched it after being sued. The malpractice suit against me will be settled around 2028. There will not be any winners. Had I been sued earlier in my career I am afraid that I would not have had the strength or resilience to carry on in medicine.
