The feature articles in the April-May issue of the BAM covered weighty topics, including misunderstood climate, misunderstood healthcare, misunderstood economics, and misunderstood brainwaves (ADHD). I recently observed my 50th Brown anniversary. Unfortunately, I can’t say celebrated (I utilized technology).  For me “Zoom” celebration is an oxymoron.  But I do realize that staying connected in life is vital. One way I stay connected to Brown is through the BAM. It is consistently excellent. The new format to cover scholarly or weighty topics in articles of 2 to 6 pages in length is very stimulating. Unfortunately, boiling down weighty topics to smaller “executive summaries” can transform a deep topic into a narrower issue which then causes the journalist’s world view to tilt toward a more humane decision (i.e., one consistent with the humans that share the author’s world view). Sometimes a weighty topic requires a different perspective; perhaps even a spiritual perspective would be more appropriate.
