“As husband and son-in-law of librarians, I’m pleased to see push-back against book banning. Banning is typical of repressive authoritarian regimes like Nazi Germany or Soviet-era countries; it has no place in the USA. Alerted by USNA-alumni friends, I downloaded the USNA list and saw nothing that would traumatize adult scholars, as all Middies are. I did see titles that might open someone’s eyes. Whether a book is age-appropriate for a child should be determined by their own parents, not by the government or a librarian. When access is denied to one person, we all lose. ”
